The Butterfly Effect

A couple of weeks ago I had the most magical experience. I rolled out my yoga mat to begin my daily practice, but the universe had other plans… I got through only half of my warm up sequence when the most beautiful Monarch butterfly came to play. She flew all around my mat, radiating love and light, eventually landing on my foot… And there she stayed. She stayed for what felt like an eternity as I grew more and more blissed out. It was as though an angelic presence enveloped my space, and I became giddy like a schoolgirl. The butterfly continued to dance around me as I giggled uncontrollably… while my husband sat back and watched with curiosity and love in his eyes. My husband was the one that realized this was a message from the Divine. He directed me to go into meditation saying that he thought it was an angel and I should see what she’s trying to tell me. I spent the next 15 minutes in silence, feeling light, almost as …

My Experience at Yoga School

Good morning world, It’s been a very long time since I’ve felt the desire to share anything on my blog. But today, I feel compelled and excited to give some insight into the two beautiful weeks I spent at Bodhi Tree in Nosara, Costa Rica, attending Teacher Training at Marianne Wells Yoga School. There is so much I could say, but I think it’s best to begin with the three over-arching aspects of training that I’ll carry with me forever… Teach people not postures. No matter what ‘level’ of yoga you are at, in Marianne’s classes you will always be doing something. Simply skipping a posture and going into childs pose is not an option. Marianne watches and observes her students and provides the necessary variations to ensure her classes are accessible to all who are participating. She taught us in training that it’s really not about reaching the ‘full expression’ of an asana, it’s about doing the right amount for your own body, and knowing the difference between pain and discomfort. Marianne’s teaching style is inclusive …

Magical Moments in Montezuma, Costa Rica

Good morning loves! I hope everyone is well and having a fabulous weekend so far. 🙂 I am heading to Toronto in a couple of days to visit my beautiful sister, who is almost 6 months pregnant! Very exciting times for us. So, seeing as it will be a busy week coming up, I wanted take take some time and share with you some of my favourite photos from Montezuma, Costa Rica. Montezuma is a beautiful place. It’s located near the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula and attracts many foreign backpackers and tourists, looking for an organic, natural experience. The town is surrounded by gorgeous beaches, rivers, and waterfalls. The exploring in Montezuma is endless- we can’t wait to head back once we’re in Costa Rica again. In Montezuma, we stayed at a beautiful Airbnb (Casacocobolo), which is situated right at the top of a hill overlooking the entire coastline. It was the perfect location, tucked away in nature, but close enough to jump on our ATVS and grab a nice lunch in town. There is a really cute …

Four Seasons Costa Rica

Discovering Costa Rica With Four Seasons

Looking back on my time in Costa Rica, I have to say, it was one of the most amazing travel experiences I’ve had. The country is more nature than anything else. It’s raw, organic, and beautiful beyond words. The week we visited was one of the last weeks of the dry season and we actually experienced one of the first heavy rains since December 16th! We were told one of the best times to visit the country (although it’s beautiful all year round) is in December, nearing the end of the wet season. Everything is lush, green and plentiful… We’ll definitely be heading back later this year or early 2018. 🙂 During our first week in Costa Rica, we stayed at the lovely Four Seasons Resort at Peninsula Papagayo, which is located on the north Pacific coast, in the northwest province of Guanacaste. The hotel has 2 beautiful beaches on either side, one facing the sunrise, and one the sunset. In the mornings, from your room, you can hear the Howler monkeys making their morning calls to …

Jungle Vibes and Waterfalls in Beautiful Costa Rica

Hola! I hope everyone is having beautiful week. We are finally seeing some sun in Vancouver, and temperatures are slightly on the rise. So I’m happy knowing that beach days are just around the corner. 🙂 I’ve been really excited to share some photos from one of my favourite days in Costa Rica. Irek, Amy, Carlo and I ventured out from the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel (full review coming soon) to a small rural area called Guanacaste. It was a 2.5 hour drive through fields and fields of lush greenery, rolling hills, and towering trees. The abundance of nature is truly spectacular. We spent close to 8 hours at Sensoria (“The Land of Senses”) and saw so many animals… including a sloth! Sloths are actually super hard to spot too, because they only come down from their trees about once a week. Their metabolism is very slow, enabling them to sleep all day, and keep away from any danger. 🙂 We swam in two different natural pools, which felt so nice after hiking through the warm, humid jungle. This was probably …

Costa Rica Yoga Snaps

Good morning! I hope everyone is having a lovely day so far. I’m back home in Vancouver for the next few weeks and am feeling super refreshed after spending the last couple of weeks in beautiful Costa Rica. 🙂 I didn’t get too many yoga sessions in while we were abroad, but that’s just because we spent so much time exploring and discovering the country. Costa Rica is an incredible place, magical really, and so full of love and positive energy. I plan on sharing lots with you over the next couple of weeks… But for now, I hope you enjoy some of my fave yoga snaps from Costa Rica! Sending lots of love!
