Vancouver Yoga

Yoga Update + Relief for Sore Muscles

Good morning beautiful people! I hope everyone had an amazing long weekend. The weather in Vancouver has been glorious lately, full sun and 25+ everyday! I hope it’s beautiful where you are as well! 🙂 First off, I just wanted to share a little bit about where I’m at in my yoga journey… I recently made the decision to start on my path to teaching. I can honestly say, teaching yoga was never on my radar… If you told me 5 years ago that this would be my focus, I wouldn’t have taken you seriously. But yoga has come into my life for a reason… It’s become a form of expression, a way of life, and the path to divine love. I will be spending a month in Bali next spring for an intensive 200 hour yoga teacher training course. I’m so excited and am simply allowing my decisions to be lead by my heart… Because of this, I’ve been able to find my own truths, and honour them at the deepest level. It’s so important …

Villa Del Palmar Cancun

I’ve been in love with Mexico for many years now… It’s the first place Irek and I ever travelled to together, so it holds a very special place in my heart. We just recently spent a week in beautiful Playa Mujeres at Villa Del Palmar Cancun for October Wellness month. Below are some highlights… The Grounds; The grounds at Villa Del Palmar were beautiful. There is nothing like tropical vegetation in my opinion- so luscious and colourful! The resort has 5 swimming pools, 4 restaurants and 6 bars- so lots of variety! There are also many activities you can participate in… from volleyball, to kayaking, to paddle boarding, to fitness and yoga classes! It’s the perfect place to bring the family as the options really are endless. The Beach; The beaches in Mexico are absolutely stunning– it’s one of the reasons why I love the country so much. Villa Del Palmar‘s beach was no exception… the white sand was so soft and gorgeous! We spent most of our time there and I managed to fit in quite a few beach yoga …

Power of Cold-Pressed Juices

If you were to ask me what’s one thing you can do to improve your overall health, hands down I would say start drinking cold-pressed juices. When Irek and I first went vegan, within weeks we felt more energized… Then, once we added cold-pressed juices to our diet, we again felt this newfound boost of energy and vitality. We have a juicer at home and make a different juice almost everyday. The days we aren’t home to make our own, we head to Melu Juice & Health Bar (in the Coal Harbour area). Their juices are super delicious and they also offer 1 day, 3 day, and 5 day juice cleanses. I tested out the 1 day juice cleanse last week and it was amazing. I’ll definitely be back to try the 5 day cleanse very soon! Whether you buy a juicer and make your own juices at home, or head to a local juice shop like I do, it’s definitely something you should be adding to your diet. The way in which cold-press juices are made …

Quinoa Pasta

What I Eat in a Day – Part 2

For breakfast I had a big blueberry smoothie… It was super filling, and very similar to the smoothie recipe I posted a few weeks back: Banana Berry Smoothie. I had this smoothie around 9am and a couple hours later I also had a big bowl of pineapple (to keep me full until lunch). For lunch I made a very simple quinoa pasta salad and on the side some sourdough bread with hummus and hemp hearts. In the summer I love making traditional salads like pasta salad, potato salad, coleslaw etc. It’s so easy to make them vegan and actually healthy for you! For dinner I made my own version of Lebanese Mujadra. Not sure how close it was to a traditional Mujadra, as I’m not really one to follow a recipe… I prefer just to wing it, be creative, and hope for the best! In this case, it worked out and was very delicious (Irek rated it a 10!!!). I will definitely be making this again soon. In addition to the 3 meals above, I also …

Current Workout Routine

Good morning! It’s a beautiful day in VanCity today – the sun is shining and the birds are chirping! It’s a good day to be alive. Take a moment and be grateful. I thought it would be beneficial for some of you if I outline my current workout routine. Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of questions on Instagram and Snapchat regarding this so will go into detail here for you. 🙂 Currently I am working out 6 days a week with one rest day (which varies – I don’t have a set rest day, I just listen to my body and rest when it needs to). So, at the moment I do yoga every other morning for an hour and 15 minutes. I rotate between focusing on heart centre (lots of back-bending/heart openers), throat (poses that focus on stretching the throat), and roots/sacral (focusing on base of spine, so lots of hip openers). I do mostly vinyasa yoga, but also power yoga as well to strengthen my core. The days that I don’t do …

Banana Berry Smoothie

Banana Berry Smoothie Recipe

This is my standby recipe for my banana berry smoothie. I always have these ingredients on hand, so if I’m feeling like a smoothie for breakfast instead of oatmeal, I’ll just quickly whip this together. If this is the only thing you’re having for breakfast and won’t eat again for an extended period of time then this recipe should be considered one portion. Otherwise, you can share this smoothie between two, and have something else to eat as well. Hope you enjoy! 🙂 Molly xx   Yields: 2 Servings Ingredients:  4 bananas 2 cups mixed berries 1/4 cup oats 1 tbsp shredded coconut 1 tsp chia seeds 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 cup almond milk 2 cups coconut water Directions:  Blend together all of the above ingredients until smooth. Divide into two jars and enjoy! __________ “I can’t think of anything better in the world to be but a vegan.” – Alicia Silverstone
